UV or Sublimation?

Have you ever been in this situation: the graphics need to be vibrant, the setup should be light and easy to transport - and the budget is set.
At the latest when approving the print files, the question comes up: UV digital print or sublimation?
Both methods deliver premium results. But each one shines in different scenarios.
We'll show you which process is the right choice - and when.

UV Digital Print: fine lines + contrast

With UV digital print, ink is applied directly from the print head onto the material. Immediately after application, high-powered LED-UV lamps cure the ink in a fraction of a second - not through evaporation, but through light. The ink fills pores and microstructures, forming a solid layer on the material's surface. Scratch-resistant,
weatherproof, and ready for further processing right away. The process works on almost any material - from rigid substrates like PVC, acrylic, aluminum, and wood, to textiles and flexible films.

- Versatile materials: PVC, acrylic, aluminum, wood, and textiles. One print process, many substrates.

- Brilliant sharpness: Fine lines, crisp typography at small font sizes, clean edges - even on rigid materials.

- Ready to process immediately: No drying time - cut, laminate, and mount without waiting.

- Stunning in backlit applications: The ideal choice for backlit light frames like LEDUP, BIG LEDUP, or LINEUP.

- Superblack: Rich, deep black with exceptional opacity - perfect for highcontrast logos and typography that grab attention from a distance at trade
shows.

Note: Printed textiles must be transported rolled - folding can cause visible crease marks in the print.

Sublimation Print - when mobility matters

With sublimation, the design is printed directly onto polyester fabric and heat-set in a calender press at around 200°C.
The pigments bond with the fibers at a molecular level. The color lives inside the material and stays there.

- Crease-free and foldable: No visible fold marks, even after multiple trips.

- Folds flat for compact packaging: Easy to store and ship.

- Stunning in backlit applications: The ideal choice for backlit light frames like LEDUP, BIG LEDUP, or LINEUP

- Washable and reusable:* One design, many uses
  * 30°C, gentle cycle, no detergent, no spin. Please note: washing removes the flame-retardant coating (B1 rating).

Note: For production reasons, printed fabrics must rest for at least 24 hours after direct printing before they can be processed further. After printing, moisture gradually returns to the material - essential for consistent processing and strong dimensional stability.

Bottom line

The right choice isn't about the process - it's about how you use it.

UV digital print is the ideal solution when maximum precision, high contrast, and immediate turnaround are what you need. It really comes into its own with designs featuring very fine lines, small typography, and deep blacks.

Sublimation print is the way to go when flexibility, mobility, and long-lasting textile applications are the priority. With color bonded deep into the fiber, the result is crease-free, washable, and reusable prints - perfect for frequent use at trade shows.
